The game play clocks in Magic Online keep play moving and penalize players for deliberately stalling. |
Each player in an event gets an equal amount of time to play during a game or match. Whenever a game is waiting for a player to either do something or click OK, that player's clock marks off time. If a player runs out of time on his or her game play clock, that player receives a match loss.
Game play clocks initially mark off time in fifteen-second increments. When there are only three minutes left on a clock, it counts down each second.
A player's clock will keep running if he or she loses connection to
Magic Online for any reason. See Disconnection
Policies for more information.
When a new round begins, the time is divided evenly between players and is displayed on their game play clocks. For example, if two players square off against each other in an event with seventy minute rounds, each player gets thirty-five minutes.
Players get three minutes between games of a match for sideboarding which don't count against the time limit.
If players finish before the round is over, a clock at the bottom of the screen will show approximately how long until the next round begins.
Leagues
All league matches have a ninety-minute time limit. That means each
player gets forty-five minutes to play each match.
